Bring your family and invite your neighbours. Salute Spring’s arrival at our annual vegetable and plant sale. Over 80 heirloom and new tomatoe varieties. Rellenos, anchos, stuffer, and sweet peppers. Lots of other seed grown vegetables. Many fine herbs: 15+ varieties of basil, 12+ varieties of mint, rosemaries. Sunflowers and many fragrant, unusual annuals. Choose from among David’s thoughtful, hand-picked selection of the best perennials and shrubs. All vegetables and plants are chosen from the lists of Canada, Great Britain, and the United State’s finest seed houses, and propagated by David. Delight in Scottish Country, Irish, and Cape Breton Step dancing; Morris dancers and medieval re-enactors. Tap to the living tunes of harp, fiddle, key board, and accordion. Basket weavers and baskets; bee keepers and honey, candles, and creams; willow weavers and twig furniture; sculptors and bronze faeries; Kristian the Jester; Dufferin 4H Club, spring lambs, chickens, and bunnies; herbalists, wild plants and crafts. This fair celebrates the summer border and all the plants that make it the climax of the gardening year. This is an opportunity to appreciate our home gardens at their best.
David Warburton and staff will be available to identify and discuss with you plants of interest. Bring your photos, plans and ideas and with their help build yourself a beautiful midsummer border. All the signature plants i.e. English and New Zealand delphinium, day lilies, Shasta daisies, tall lilies, campanula, yarrow, salvias and hardy geraniums etc. will be available for sale in the nursery.

David Tomlinson: Environmentally Friendly Gardens

David Tomlinson is a passionate ornithologist, horticulturalist, landscape architect, and as an environmentalist, was recently honoured by his hometown of Aurora. David combines all these interests and skills in a lecture and slide presentation that demonstrates how a ecologically complete, well integrated system, which includes wildlife, can be created. David will demonstrate how to reduce the use of fertilizers, toxic chemicals, and conserve water. Examples of the many practices are illustrated in slide images taken from David and Deirdre Tomlinson’s own “Merlin Hollow” garden.

Paul Zammit: Creating Winter Arrangements: Both Indoor and Out

Paul and Uli’s own home garden has won numerous awards from the City of Toronto Garden Contest over the years. Most recently it was featured in Canadian Living, Garden Life, and Canadian Gardener. Paul is well recognized for his spectacular festive urns and excellent hands-on workshops.
