The Nursery and Gardens at Kingfisher Cottage

Set in scenic Hockley Valley, minutes from Orangeville, & an hour’s drive from the GTA, Guelph, Barrie & Collingwood, landscape designer David Warburton has created an enchanting & unique cottage garden. Created to set off his story book straw-bale & Adirondack cottage, the show gardens reflect his passion for plants of every description but especially the unusual & hard to find.

Choose from among David’s thoughtful, hand-picked selection of the best perennials and shrubs. All vegetables and plants are chosen from the lists of Canada, Great Britain, and the United State’s finest seed houses, and propagated by David. This fair celebrates the summer border and all the plants that make it the climax of the gardening year. This is an opportunity to appreciate our home gardens at their best.
David Warburton and staff will be available to identify and discuss with you plants of interest. Bring your photos, plans and ideas and with their help build yourself a beautiful midsummer border. All the signature plants i.e. English and New Zealand delphinium, day lilies, Shasta daisies, tall lilies, campanula, yarrow, salvias and hardy geraniums etc. will be available for sale in the nursery.

David Tomlinson: Environmentally Friendly Gardens

David Tomlinson is a passionate ornithologist, horticulturalist, landscape architect, and as an environmentalist, was recently honoured by his hometown of Aurora. David combines all these interests and skills in a lecture and slide presentation that demonstrates how a ecologically complete, well integrated system, which includes wildlife, can be created. David will demonstrate how to reduce the use of fertilizers, toxic chemicals, and conserve water. Examples of the many practices are illustrated in slide images taken from David and Deirdre Tomlinson’s own “Merlin Hollow” garden.
